Putin criticized the assassination of General Soleimani.
The President of Russia criticized the action of the United States in the assassination of the former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In his speech at the Valaday summit, the Russian president said that the Western liberal order is the cause of increasing disorder. He said that Russia is an example of a country where different religions and cultures live together.
In a part of his statement criticizing the Western order, he said that the West killed Sardar Soleimani, while he was an official in his country. Putin said the West not only did not deny this, but was proud of it.
According to the Armenian news agency, Putin said: “They killed Soleimani, the Iranian general.” [In the Western order] you can treat Soleimani however you want; Whatever you want, if he is an official of another country.”
He added: “They killed him in the territory of a third country and said, ‘Yes, we killed him.’ What are these things for? Where do we live?”
The US government headed by Donald Trump martyred General Soleimani and a number of his companions near the Baghdad airport on December 13, 2018.
This American action brought international reactions and condemnations. “Agnes Callamard”, the special rapporteur of the United Nations in the field of illegal and arbitrary assassinations in the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of this organization, last year called the crime of the United States in the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Haj Qassem Soleimani illegal.
In a report, while rejecting the claims of American officials about the reason for the assassination of General Soleimani, Callamard wrote that Washington failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify the reason for this attack.
