The President of Ukraine called for immediate talks with Russia.
The Ukrainian president called for immediate talks with Russia, saying it was Moscow’s only chance to reduce the damage caused by its mistake in attacking Ukraine.
In a video message this morning (Saturday), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky stressed the need for dialogue with Russia, saying that the only opportunity for Russia to contain the consequences of its mistakes in the occupation of Ukraine was to hold immediate peace talks.
“Serious and meaningful peace talks on our security for Ukraine are Russia’s only chance to reduce the damage caused by its mistakes,” he said in the message. “It’s time to meet, it’s time to talk.”
The Ukrainian president continued that the cost of the Ukraine war would bring heavy losses to Russia that would probably not be reimbursed for several generations.
“It is time for Ukraine to restore its territorial integrity and justice, otherwise the damage to Russia will be so great that several generations will not be able to make up for it,” Zelensky said.
On the other hand, “Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a rally in Moscow and praised the Russian military for its military operation in Ukraine, saying: “We will achieve our goals.”
Reacting to Putin’s remarks, Zelensky said: “There was a lot of talk today in Moscow …. There was a big march and I want to draw attention to one detail. It is reported that about 200,000 people marched in the Russian capital. 100,000 people were on the streets and 95,000 in the stadium. About the same number of Russian troops have taken part in the invasion of Ukraine. “Imagine just 14,000 corpses and tens of thousands injured and mutilated in a Moscow stadium.”
