At least 200 people have been killed in a terrorist attack in Nigeria.
According to witnesses and residents of a state in Nigeria, terrorists and armed miscreants attacked eight villages to avenge the army’s airstrikes on their hideouts, killing at least 200 people.
Residents of Nigeria’s Zamfara state say at least 200 people have been killed in retaliatory and deadly attacks by armed bandits on villages in the state.
The men told Reuters on Saturday evening that they had been able to return to their homes after the Nigerian military regained control of the villages to organize mass burials.
Although Zamfara officials claim that 58 people have been killed in the attacks, residents estimate the death toll at more than 200.
According to the report, Omaro Makri, a man who lost his wife and three children during the attack, told Reuters that he had personally counted about 154 people buried.
According to Reuters, on Friday, more than 300 armed bandits and terrorists on motorcycles attacked eight villages in Zamfara state in retaliation for the army’s airstrikes on their hideouts and began killing people.
The Nigerian military has previously said that airstrikes on targets in the Gosami forest and the western village of Tsamar in Zamfara state have killed more than 100 bandits, including two of their leaders.
According to Reuters, Nigerian President Mohammado Bohari also said in a statement on Saturday that the military had acquired more equipment to track down and eliminate criminal gangs that expose people to a state of terror.
