Pentagon reacts to Iran’s unveiling of “Conqueror of Khyber” missile.
The unveiling of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) long-range strategic missile “Conqueror of Khyber” provoked a reaction from the US Department of Defense spokesman.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby yesterday (Wednesday) reacted to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s unveiling of the IRGC’s long-range strategic missile “Khyber breaker” at a news conference.
“I did not see Iran’s announcement of a new ballistic missile program, so I have nothing special to say about it,” Kirby was quoted as saying by the US Department of Defense. “However, we have seen a continuous improvement in Iran’s ballistic missile program, and we are well aware of the regional threats posed by the ballistic missile program.”
“That is why we are working very hard with our allies and partners in the region to deal with these kinds of threats,” he said, referring to Iran’s progress in the missile program.
A Pentagon spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the Iranian media, said: “I repeat, I can not comment on this statement. Speaking of which, I did not see anything so I prefer not to comment on the missile they claim to have. I have nothing special about it. “Guys, you are always ahead of me in the news on the issues that come up.”
Kirby: We are constantly working hard with partners and allies in the region to counter Iran’s missile threat.
However, he continued to accuse the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying, “They (Iran) are destabilizing the region. “They support terrorist groups across the region and disrupt maritime transport.”
