Moscow: We will respond to German action against the Rashatodi network.
Russia’s foreign ministry says Moscow is taking action against Russia’s media outlets in response to a ban on the Rashtavod network in Germany.
The German government’s decision to cut off the German Rashotodi network in the country was met with a sharp reaction from Moscow.
Russia will take action against German-language media outlets operating in Russia in response to the German government’s decision to ban the broadcasting of the German Rashatodi network in the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday evening.
“The German media regulatory ruling is a sign that Russia’s concerns have been openly ignored,” the statement said, according to the Tass news agency. “This leaves us with no choice but to take retaliatory action against the reputable German media in Russia, as well as online intermediaries who removed the channel’s accounts from their bases for no apparent reason or motive.”
The ministry explained that the decision was made by the German legislature, which ordered the German television channel Rashatodi to stop broadcasting satellites and other programs, despite the fact that the news agency operates under Serbian satellite licenses and in accordance with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.
“Germany has been repeatedly warned that politically motivated pressure on the Russian media operator is unacceptable, and it has been pointed out that retaliatory measures will be taken if Berlin refuses to find a constructive solution to the problem it has created with the German Rashatodi,” Moscow said.
It was on Wednesday that the German government, contrary to previous promises not to put pressure on the media, declared the decision taken against the “Rasha Today” network in German to be valid and correct.
