A meeting of the Special Cabinet Committee chaired by Home Minister Sheikh Rashid was held in which the Returns and Redemption and Criminal Extradition Agreements between Pakistan and UK were discussed.
After Cabinet approval, the Committee finalized the Returns and Redemption Agreement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, and after final consultation with the United Kingdom, the agreement will be submitted for signature between the two countries.
Following cabinet approval, the draft agreement was sent to the British government for consultation last month.
The agreement will only allow the repatriation of citizens who have been sentenced by the courts.
The Cabinet Committee also decided to conclude the Pak-UK Criminal Extradition Agreement soon and to hold further consultations on the agreement.
The extradition agreement will enable the extradition of convicted persons between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
