LAHORE: Private flight 4541 from Kyrgyzstan narrowly escaped a horrific accident due to a captain’s mistake.
The foreign captain tried to land the plane “Airbus A320” from Bishkek to Lahore on the wrong runway, but the plane was taken off again when the mistake was discovered.
The foreign flight captain attempted a landing on Runway 18L, which has been under construction for the past two years and is completely closed to all flights. Meanwhile, the control tower contacted the hotline and informed the captain of his mistake.
Flight 4541 was instructed by the control tower to hover in the air and land again, after which the captain made a second attempt to land the plane on Secondary Runway 36L.
According to sources, Flight 4541 from the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek to Lahore had 171 passengers and eight crew members on board. The Civil Aviation Authority has launched an investigation into the incident.
