Federal Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzeb has said that a comprehensive strategy regarding load shedding has been given to the Cabinet. Several decisions were taken in the cabinet today. The Cabinet was also briefed on the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that the Cabinet was also briefed on power load shedding and commodity prices. He said that providing relief to the people was the top priority of the government. The cabinet has approved the import of 3 million metric tonnes of wheat.
He said the cabinet had approved revocation of more than one passport per person. It also approved maintaining sugar and flour prices.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that Fawad Asadullah Khan was approved to be appointed as DG IB. Imran Khan is again violating the constitution in Punjab. Food production was affected due to poor policy of the previous government.
On the occasion, Federal Minister for Law Nazir Tarar said that for the last six weeks some people have been playing with the constitution, some people are trying to take steps beyond the constitution. No official should exceed his constitutional limits. He said that it was decided today that this issue would also be debated in the Assembly today.
Azam Nazir said that the Cabinet ratified the decisions of the Prime Minister and ratified the summary of removal of Governor Punjab.
On the occasion, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb further said that the Prime Minister has imposed a complete ban on sugar exports. Sugar is available in the country as per demand. The ban on sugar exports is aimed at reducing the price of sugar in the country.
Energy Minister Khurram Dastagir said that additional resources have been requested from the Cabinet to limit load shedding. At the end of the previous PML-N government, there was zero load shedding in the country. Load shedding in the country has been zero since May 1. He said that today the power generation in the country is more than 22,600 MW. Today there is no load shedding anywhere in the country.
Khurram Dastgir said that power plants were closed due to incompetence of the previous government. Load management is done on high deficit feeders. The Prime Minister directed that a balance should be struck between urban and rural areas regarding load shedding.
