The promotion of Venezuela’s diplomatic mission in Palestine from an office to an embassy.
According to the Palestinian Ilyum news site, Venezuela upgraded the level of its representation in Palestine from an office to an embassy.
According to this report, although Venezuela has not yet announced the location of its embassy in Palestine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Palestinian Authority welcomed Venezuela’s decision to increase the level of its representation from an office to an embassy.
The ministry announced in a statement: This act of Venezuela embodies the recognition of the Palestinian state by Venezuela in April 2009 and expresses the depth of historical relations between the two friendly countries and the firm support of Caracas for the Palestinian government and the rights of the Palestinian people at all levels.
The statement adds: We thank and appreciate the president, the government, and the people of Venezuela for their boundless support for the Palestinian people and their just cause and for this courageous decision.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine emphasized: Considering the efforts made to marginalize and destroy the Palestinian issue, as well as the violations and atrocities committed against the Palestinians with the continuation of the occupation, this decision has an effective role in the formation of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It should be mentioned that Venezuela opened its representative office in the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah in 2006.
