Palestinian Minister of Justice: The assassination of Abu Aqla is a war crime.
The Palestinian Minister of Justice said that the killing of the Al-Jazeera reporter was a war crime and was intentional and illegal.
Palestinian Minister of Justice Mohammed al-Shalada stressed on Saturday that the assassination of the late Al-Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Aqla was a premeditated murder.
“The assassination of Abu Aqela reaches the level of a war crime,” al-Shalalda told Al-Jazeera. “His murder was intentional and illegal so that [the Zionist regime] could hide the truth.”
He added that the investigation file is being completed to determine the perpetrator of the shooting, adding that the bullet that hit Shirin was fired by the Israeli military.
The Palestinian minister noted that the answer to Abu Aqela’s autopsy would be forthcoming, noting that Zionist officials should be questioned and punished.
Emphasizing that the Zionist regime is responsible for this crime, he stated: “We support the formation of any international investigation committee, and mechanisms for the prosecution and accountability of [this regime] should be established.”
“We will send a supplementary case to the Hague tribunal,” al-Shalalda concluded. If Israel is not held accountable, the law of the jungle will prevail. “There must also be a legal authority, whether from the Security Council or the General Assembly.”
Zionist militants attacked Al-Jazeera Palestinian journalist Shirin Abu Aqla in a raid on the Jenin area in the northwest from a distance of 100 to 150 meters on Wednesday, and Ali Al-Samudi, the network’s producer, was killed. Were also injured.
The assassination of Abu Aqela was not the first crime committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinian journalists, and according to the Palestinian Ministry of Information, 45 journalists have been martyred by the Zionist regime since the second Palestinian intifada in 2000.
