Nicki Haley, a former US envoy to the United Nations, said her country would pay a heavy price for its disgraceful defeat in Afghanistan.
Haley wrote in a note on the Fox News website on Friday, without mentioning the thousands of victims of NATO’s 20-year military presence in Afghanistan, that a large number of US troops, unlike her husband, could not return to the United States alive.
“The moral dimension of President Biden’s defeat should not be underestimated, but its enormous strategic dimension is to American national security that we must pay attention to,” she wrote. “The cost of this national humiliation will not be cheap.”
“First, too little, too late,” Haley wrote of the US government’s failure to transfer Afghans who assisted with the US mission. “It was created, it is not enough.”
The Republican diplomat added: “This disgraceful defeat sends a flawless message to our future allies that we have no air of. “When you treat your friends like this, you end up with no friendship.”
“Second, remember why we went to Afghanistan from the beginning. Of all the terrible governments in the region, it was the Taliban-led Afghanistan that created the most secure safe haven for al-Qaeda to plan for 9/11. “Because of President Biden’s incompetence, on the twentieth anniversary of the worst attack on our country, the Taliban flag is once again hoisted on the seat of the Afghan government.”
“Biden claims that our ability to stop terrorist activity is ‘beyond the horizon,'” Haley writes. Of course it is, but it is absurd to think that we can be so effective without information, air and logistics capabilities at the field level. We were able to carry out counter-terrorism operations in Afghanistan, and Biden blew everyone away. “This makes us undeniably vulnerable to terrorist attacks.”
- “Eventually, American interests around the world have plummeted,” she said in a note. China, Russia and Iran are closely monitoring what we are doing. Biden’s policies have so far shown widespread weakness. Giving concessions to Russia over the Rolling Stream 2 project, accepting the Chinese Olympics, which should be known as the genocide Olympics, and begging Iran to take our money and return to the catastrophic nuclear deal, all show our enemies what foreign policy should be.
“The embarrassment in Afghanistan underscores this,” the memo said. Today, the United States has less security. We will pay a heavy price for this disgraceful defeat for a long time. “But what should be done from now on?”
“First, we need to get all Americans out of Afghanistan safely,” Haley wrote. Biden must make it clear to the Taliban that as long as the last American is in Afghanistan, the US military will not leave the country. Second, we should not legitimize the Taliban and the United States should recognize or assist it. Ultimately, America’s credibility needs serious cleansing. Biden’s alleged human rights record is shameful. His alleged desire to work more closely with our allies is now hilarious. “His gesture against our enemies is dangerously weak.”
