The President of the European Commission stressed the intensification of repression in Saudi Arabia and expressed concern about the human rights situation in the country.
The European Commission (EU) has said that the situation of the Al-Saud regime as well as human rights in Saudi Arabia is worrying.
In a letter to the German Institute for Development Evaluation, the new President of the European Commission, Ursulafon Dreline, stressed the need for the Saudi regime to comply with international and constitutional law.
Darline also stressed the need for Saudi Arabia to respect the rights of personal freedom and freedom of expression.
He added that the European Union was aware of the situation of Saudi princes in Saudi Arabia, who are under house arrest and detention.
Ozulafon Darline also referred to the case of former Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, whose physical condition has recently deteriorated.
An American news network revealed last July that Mohammed bin Nayef was no longer able to walk due to severe torture in an Al Saud-controlled prison.
The President of the European Commission stressed that legal proceedings against Saudi detainees, including detained Saudi princes, are subject to ongoing discussions with Saudi officials, and that the status of women’s rights and human rights activists and defenders is part of our discussion with relevant Saudi institutions.
He added: “These talks are underway with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Commission for Human Rights.”
The statement said the EU had expressed concern about the escalation of human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia and had also raised the issue with several parties, including the Human Rights Council in Geneva, which strongly condemned the death penalty in all The exceptions are the opposite.
