Zelensky: Russia will try to take control of Kiev tonight
The Ukrainian president said in a recorded message that Russia would try to take control of Kiev tonight.
“Tonight, Russia will try to take control of Kiev,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky said in a recorded message.
A White House spokesman said it was not in the US interest to go to war with Russia and would not send troops to Ukraine.
“The impact of sanctions on Russia’s financial and economic system will be huge,” he added.
A White House spokesman added: “US President Joe Biden is still ready to meet with the Russian president, but now is not the time.
“We do not want to harm Russia or its people, we just want to put pressure on the system and the financial sector because of Putin’s actions,” he said.
