Zelensky: Blinken and Austin are coming to Kiev tomorrow.
The Ukrainian president announced that the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense would travel to Kiev on Sunday.
In a speech on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky said that Russia had always sought to deprive Ukraine of its sovereignty and appreciated the international community ‘s solidarity with that country.
“We will continue to fight for our freedom and independence, and it is impossible to stop the war except by the one who started it,” he added.
Zelinsky announced that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will travel to Kiev tomorrow (Sunday).
“We have shown our willingness to engage in dialogue, and the Russian side is not adhering to what it is saying and is promoting misinformation,” he added.
“There is no balance between Russia and Ukraine, and Kiev has been calling for talks from the beginning and we have taken several steps to support our position,” he said.
Zelensky warned that we would not participate in the talks if Russia insisted on declaring Kherson Republic.
He referred to the situation in the port city of Mariupol, saying that the city was in a difficult situation and called for the reopening of humanitarian crossings and the exchange of our prisoners with Russian troops.
“We thank the United States for all its assistance and look forward to further assistance,” he said.
“The United States supports us and makes it possible for us to win the war, but we need to speed up the delivery of aid,” he said.
“I will talk to the American side about the desired level of military assistance and discuss with the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense the timetable for sending arms shipments to Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
