Zelensky Appreciates US Arms Assistance.
Ukrainian President Mikheil Saakashvili praised US military assistance after meeting with US Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State.
As Moscow has repeatedly warned Washington about sending weapons to Ukraine, the Ukrainian president has thanked Joe Biden and his government for sending them weapons.
Following the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the two senior US officials and spoke about Washington’s arms assistance.
According to Al-Jazeera, Volodymyr Zelinsky praised US arms aid to Ukraine, saying that it had helped Ukraine’s defense capabilities reach a “new level of quality.”
“We appreciate the unprecedented US assistance to Ukraine,” he said. On behalf of all the people of Ukraine, I would like to personally thank President Biden for his leadership in supporting Ukraine and for his clear personal position. I thank all the American people, as well as Congress, for their bipartisan support. “We see and feel (this help).”
According to the Ukrainian presidential office, Zelensky spoke with the US delegation about the following: “Current priorities for the hostile country” are the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, financial support for Ukraine and security guarantees.
Zelensky’s appreciation of Biden and the US government came as Moscow’s ambassador to Moscow, Anatoly Antonov, confirmed in an interview with Russia-24 that Moscow had sent a note to Washington calling for an end to Kiev’s arms supply.
The warning was sent by Moscow after the Washington Post reported on Thursday (April 25th) that Russia had sent a protest note to the United States regarding the supply of weapons to the Ukrainians.
