The Special Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced the famous Saudi blogger Abdul Aziz Al-Awda to five years in prison for opposing the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime.
Al-Qusat Human Rights Organization announced that Abdul Aziz Al-Awda, who was arrested in September 2019, was sentenced to five years in prison and suspended for two years and six months due to his imprisonment.
Al-Saud authorities arrested Abdul Aziz al-Awda for publishing a series of tweets in support of the Palestinian cause.
Al-Awda was arrested and imprisoned for continuing to defend the Palestinian cause and to oppose a wave of normalization of relations with Tel Aviv.
Al-Saud officials arrested al-Awda and other bloggers in early September 2019 for publishing articles on the Palestinian issue and pledged not to write about the Palestinian issue, normalization of relations, or support for the Palestinian resistance, but Abdul Aziz al-Awda later this month. He was arrested again in September of the same year (2019).
Meanwhile, due to Al-Awda’s widespread popularity among various segments of Saudi society, the hashtag Abdul-Aziz-Al-Awda was launched on Twitter, and many users expressed their sympathy with the young Saudi.
