Failure of the plan to reduce pressure on “Marib”; Yemeni Ansarallah fighters liberate 80% of the occupied Taiz area.
Elements affiliated with the resigned government sought to reduce pressure on the Ma’rib operational front by occupying areas in Taiz failed to keep control of 80 percent of the occupied areas of Taiz.
The military and elements affiliated with the government of ousted Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi launched an operation in Taiz province (southwest) a few days ago to reduce the pressure of Ansarallah on the Ma’rib (central) front.
The Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar reported that operations by Hadi-affiliated elements in Taiz failed and that the Yemeni army and popular committees halted advances on the western front of Taiz in the past 48 hours, losing control of 80 percent of the territory to Ansarallah.
Local sources told the newspaper that Yemeni government forces, after receiving the equipment, managed to retake important areas such as the “Daraf”, “Al-Arf” and “Ghobari” heights located west of the “Maqbaneh” front and the “Al-Tawir” area, but in Clashes are still raging in some areas of Al-Kawiha.
According to these sources, clashes are currently taking place between the Hadi elements and the Yemeni forces on the Al-Barh front in western Taiz. The clashes between the two sides over the past two days have also taken place on three fronts, killing and injuring a large number of elements and leaders of the resigned government.
According to these sources, a number of leaders of the al-Kadha region affiliated with the resigned government were killed and wounded yesterday evening, and among those killed and wounded were 30 elements affiliated with the UAE.
Informed sources also reported that the recent operation by Yemeni forces in western Taiz also thwarted the efforts of Abdul Rahman al-Shamshani, affiliated with the Brotherhood party, to unite Yemeni anti-government elements in Taiz.
Meanwhile, elements affiliated with Tariq Saleh – affiliated with the UAE – have realized the future danger of the Al-Islah (Muslim Brotherhood) party in western Taiz and have recently increased their presence in the conflict zones in the region.
Abdul Hafez al-Faqih, the leader of the Al-Islah party in Taiz, also warned that the west coast of Yemen would be liberated from the UAE, and called on Abu Dhabi-affiliated militias to recognize the Hadi government.
Al-Faqih described “acceptance of the legitimacy of the Hadi government” as a condition for the survival of these forces, and stressed that the UAE is working to dismantle Taiz.
