According to Sputnik, the US Treasury Secretary says that his government is looking for healthy economic competition with China.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a message on her Twitter account on Thursday: “The administration is committed to deepening the relationship between the two countries on a wide range of issues, and I look forward to doing so during my visit.”
The US Treasury Secretary, who is in China, mentioned the trip to China as an opportunity to improve relations with China and avoid misunderstandings, and said that the US government will always take necessary measures to protect its national security.
Yellen also emphasized that America wants healthy economic competition with China for the benefit of American workers and companies, while cooperating with Beijing to deal with global challenges.
The US Treasury Secretary has traveled to China for a three-day visit from July 6 to 9 and is scheduled to meet with senior Chinese officials. The discussion on the economic issue is on the agenda of Yellen’s trip in the midst of increasing tensions between the two countries over trade restrictions.
