“World Food Program” aid to the Palestinian people cut off.
World Food Program assistance to more than 200,000 Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank will be cut off due to a budget deficit.
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Palestine announced the severe lack of financial resources of the World Food Program to meet the basic needs of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
“RT” news website reported on Sunday evening: “Samer Abdul Jaber”, a senior official of the World Food Program, announced that the World Food Program will suspend aid to the Palestinians from next month (June) due to lack of financial resources. brought
Samer Abdul Jaber, director of the World Food Program’s office in occupied Palestine, said in an interview with Reuters on Sunday: “Due to the severe lack of financial resources, the World Food Program has been forced to choose painful options to save its limited resources.”
The senior official of the World Food Program added: “The World Food Program will be forced to suspend financial assistance to more than 200,000 people, who receive 60% of the current assistance, from June.”
Families living in Gaza are the most affected because the Israeli blockade has threatened food security and kept poverty at the highest levels in the region.
The World Food Program (WFP) provides monthly food packages to needy Palestinians at $10.30 per person, which will be affected by the suspension of funding for both parts of this aid.
According to Palestinian and UN statistical sources, the Gaza Strip has a population of 2.3 million, of which 45% are unemployed and 80% depend on international aid.
“WFP is fully aware of the consequences of this difficult and unavoidable decision that will affect the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who rely on this essential food aid,” Abdul Jaber added.
