Rejecting the Russian president’s invitation to take part in a live televised conversation with the US president, the White House spokesman said Biden was busy with other things and did not have time.
Tensions between Russia and the United States have escalated in recent days following a controversial interview with US President Joe Biden and an insult to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
White House spokesman Jen Saki told a news conference yesterday (Thursday) that Putin had rejected Joe Biden’s invitation to a live televised interview, citing the president’s busy schedule. It is no more and has no time.
Saki said he had no plans to meet with the US president, either online or offline and that the president’s schedule was busy.
“If there was an amusing issue, we would talk to you (the Russian president) again,” he explained. “My point is that President (Biden) has already talked to President (Vladimir) Putin, and there are still more leaders in the world with whom he (Biden) has not interacted.”
A White House spokesman later said: “We are dealing with Russian leaders, members of this government and at all levels, but (at the moment) I have nothing to report on future meetings. “The president will definitely be in Georgia tomorrow and he is very busy.”
In an interview with ABC on Tuesday, Biden said he thought Putin was a “killer” and warned that the Russian president would have to pay a heavy price if he proved Moscow’s involvement in the 2020 US presidential election.
