The dispute between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, which erupted on the pretext of the recent remarks of the country’s Minister of Information, George Qardahi, is related to his words in August that Qardahi was not yet the Minister of Information of Lebanon. In a televised interview recorded in August, he said that “Yemeni Ansarullah” was defending itself against attacks by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and that the aggressors should stop aggressing against Yemen and killing its people. Al-Saud summoned its ambassador from Lebanon and expelled the Lebanese ambassador from Riyadh, and three countries, Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain, followed Riyadh.
With the start of a new round of disputes between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, the Arab League called for a solution to end the crisis on November 29, expressing concern over the deterioration of relations between Lebanon and a number of Arab countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf.
The union issued a statement on the date stating that the crisis over the Lebanese Minister of Information’s remarks should have been raised differently by the Lebanese, as the investigation into George Qardahi’s remarks has exacerbated the crisis and there are parties who are interested. They want to dismantle Lebanon’s relations with Arab countries.
“We trust the Lebanese president and government to take steps to prevent deteriorating relations with the Arab Gulf states,” the statement said. We also call on these countries to reconsider their actions to avoid negative effects on the Lebanese economy.
Following the escalation of the unprecedented Riyadh-Beirut dispute, a delegation from the Arab League traveled to Lebanon and met first with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib and then with Prime Minister Najib Mikati. He left the country and after meeting him, went to “Ba’bda” to meet with “Michel Aoun” in the Lebanese Presidential Palace.
“Relations between Lebanon and the Gulf states are historic and strong, and we are moving towards reviving relations between the two sides, and we hope that everyone will work towards achieving this goal,” Zaki told Bouhabib.
Bouhabib also stressed at the meeting that the Arab League is a link between Lebanon and the Arab countries, and that we support the union’s efforts to strengthen relations between Lebanon and the Arab countries.
During a meeting with Hossam Zaki, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that Beirut wants to resume normal relations with Riyadh and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, and that Lebanon is making every effort to remove obstacles to these relations and resolve their problems. Will be used.
The Lebanese Prime Minister informed the Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, that the League can play a key role in this regard, and stated that we emphasize its role in bringing views closer together and eliminating differences.
Zaki also said that relations between Lebanon and the Arab countries in the Persian Gulf are historic and strong, and that we are moving towards reviving relations between the two sides, and we hope that everyone will work towards achieving this goal.
The Arab League Vice President’s third meeting was with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, during which the two sides discussed the dispute between Riyadh-Beirut and the severance of ties between Saudi Arabia and the three Arab states of Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain with Lebanon.
Aoun stressed that Lebanon wants to have the best relations with the Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, and Beirut has mentioned this issue on every occasion.
