Wedding of 500 Yemeni brides and grooms under bombardment of Saudi fighters.
500 Yemeni brides and grooms were married in Saada province as airstrikes and artillery shelling began in the northern regions this morning.
While the northern regions of Yemen, including Saada and Hajjah provinces, were repeatedly targeted by Saudi airstrikes and artillery today, 500 Yemeni brides and grooms held their mass wedding in the city of Saada.
According to the Al-Masira website, the ceremony was initiated by the Yemeni Zakat Organization, and “Shamsan Abu Shantan,” the director general of the Yemeni Zakat Organization, said in a speech that the enemies had bet on the destruction of all aspects of life in Yemen, but today the Yemeni people stand more than ever. Islam is real and such ceremonies send a clear message to the enemies of Yemen.
“The enemies are trying to target the youth with a soft war, and unfortunately, some manifestations of corruption can be seen even near Mecca and Medina,” he added.
The Yemeni official also said, “I appreciate the resistance of the people of Saada from the province of Saada, along with the ruins caused by the bombings.” “Zakat is one of the fruits of the September 21 revolution, which is now showing its effectiveness.”
The ceremony took place hours earlier when four civilians were wounded in a Saudi artillery attack on the outskirts of Saada. A house was completely destroyed by a Saudi airstrike in the Harz border area, and a 60-year-old woman and two children were killed. Two other children were injured.
Mass weddings have increased in Yemen in recent months and have become a symbol of the resilience and vitality of the Yemeni people under all-out bombings and sieges. Yesterday, 348 brides and grooms celebrated in Taiz province. The provinces of Ib, Dhamar, Imran, Hajjah, Lahj, Al-Mahwit and Al-Hudaidah also witnessed such ceremonies in the past month. In Sanaa province, 7,200 Yemeni brides and grooms celebrated the largest mass wedding on 11 December.
