Washington isn’t going to attend the Moscow summit on Afghanistan.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Russia had not yet decided on Afghanistan to attend the next meeting in Moscow.
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Friday evening that Washington could not yet confirm its participation in Russia’s October 20 consultative meeting on Afghanistan.
Speaking at a State Department news conference, he added that Washington was aware of the upcoming meeting in Moscow but could not yet confirm any meeting or attendance.
Moscow’s consultations on Afghanistan are scheduled for October 20. Consultation in the form of Moscow in 2017 was based on the 6-way consultation mechanism of the Special Representatives of Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran, China and Pakistan.
According to Deutsche Welle, Moscow has already hosted conferences on Afghanistan and in March this year held a conference on Afghanistan with representatives of the United States, China and Pakistan, and in the final statement of the meeting called for peace between the parties involved. They were in Afghanistan and stressed the need to stop the violence in that country, and eventually the Taliban took control of power in Afghanistan.
