Wall Street Journal: US Provides Advanced Missile Systems to Ukraine
A US newspaper reported that Washington would soon provide Ukraine with two advanced missile systems, the MLRS and Himars.
A Biden administration is expected to announce its decision to send long-range missile systems to Ukraine early next week, a U.S. official said Friday.
According to the Wall Street Journal, among the weapons the United States is expected to provide Ukraine are multiple missile launchers (MLRSs), mobile artillery launchers that can fire missiles tens of kilometers away from any current Ukrainian system.
On the other hand, the United States is expected to provide Ukraine with high-mobility missile systems known as Himars. The rocket launcher is a multi-firing system that has a launch range comparable to the MLRS, but unlike the MLRS, which is mounted on a truck, the Himars are mounted on a wheeled chassis.
Both systems can increase the mobility of the Ukrainian army compared to Howitzer rocket launchers.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The United States has said Ukrainian troops will need at least a week to be trained to work with the systems.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kolba also announced on Friday that “a lot of heavy weapons are on their way to Ukraine.”
On the other hand, CNN quoted sources in the US government as announcing President Joe Biden’s plan to send advanced rocket launchers to Ukraine.
According to the report, Washington is scheduled to announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine next week, and these missiles will be included in this package.
