“Wall Street Journal”: UAE sent weapons to Sudan instead of humanitarian aid.
According to al-Mayadeen, the American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported that the United Arab Emirates, an ally of the United States, had promised to send aid to Sudan, but in the end, sent weapons to this country.
According to this report, the UAE is intensifying the conflicts in Sudan by sending weapons to Sudan, which killed more than 3,900 people.
Ugandan officials have announced that an Emirati plane landed in Uganda containing dozens of boxes full of ammunition and weapons. According to Ugandan officials, this plane was supposed to deliver humanitarian aid to Sudan.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, these weapons were discovered on June 2. In this way, the UAE is trying to support Mohammad Hamdan Daghlo, the commander of the Rapid Support militia against the Sudanese army.
The UAE supports Daghlo because it ultimately expects him to protect the country’s interests in Sudan, since Sudan has a sensitive geopolitical position in the Red Sea and access to the Nile River, along with large gold mines.
Meanwhile, UAE officials have emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of conflicts in Sudan and supporting efforts to reduce the suffering of the people of the country.
The Wall Street Journal also reported: The administration of US President Joe Biden was in the process of sending these Emirati weapons to Sudan and expressed concern about this action by Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations had warned about the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Sudan. He emphasized that no significant achievements have been achieved between the parties involved in Sudan.
The United Nations has also repeatedly warned about the worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan and the lack of humanitarian aid in this country. Also, “William Spindler”, the spokesperson of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, expressing concern about the worsening of the humanitarian situation in Sudan, stated: More than 700,000 people have fled to neighboring countries due to armed conflicts. Also, 195 thousand people of South Sudan have been forced to return to their country. Also, more than 3 million people have been displaced inside Sudan.
