Russian President Vladimir Putin says the West Asian region will not see peace until the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is resolved.
Asked how Russia could help resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Putin said in a meeting with major world media on Friday (local time): “It is important that issues related to the Palestinian settlement are not left out. “Especially given the dire situation it has and the importance it has not only for the Middle East but for the whole world.”
According to the Anatolian News Agency, referring to the friendly relations that Moscow has with Palestinian officials and the Zionist regime, he explained that Russia has been involved in the process of resolving the Palestinian problem for several decades.
“Without a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, there can be no lasting peace in the region,” he said.
“Apart from the problems with Israel, there are other issues that need to be carefully considered,” Vladimir Putin said, according to the report.
He also expressed hope that the current problems could be resolved as soon as possible using a two-state solution.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said of the 12-day war between the Palestinians and the Zionist regime: “The world is witnessing another wave of violence. This is an old problem. Russia is actively working to normalize the situation. “We have been in contact with the mediating parties and have presented two initiatives, one of which is the Palestinian-Israeli talks in Moscow and the other is holding a quadripartite meeting.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov also said that Moscow was ready to host talks between Palestinian groups.
