Saudi judoka Tahani al-Qahtani’s 11-0 loss to his Israeli rival has angered users.
Social media activists have sharply criticized Saudi Arabia for politically abusing Tahani al-Qahtani.
Users also criticized player for shaking hand with a representative of the Zionist regime and for a humiliating loss to the Israeli player and her lack of hijab.
The player, Tahani Al-Qahtani, said in a statement to Agence France-Presse after the loss, “It was a normal match, and my feeling is normal, and this is in the end a sport.”
Al-Qahtani added, “I am not interested in the controversy surrounding this meeting, as I turned off my phone during the past two days.”
“Some al-Qahtani does not represent us,” some Twitter users wrote.
