The US Department of Justice said the attack took place last year, adding that data including all emails and their attachments had been leaked to hackers.
According to the report, in the recent cyber attack, the emails of employees working in 27 prosecutor’s offices in 15 US states, plus the courts of Columbia and New York, were used by hackers, and in New York alone, the emails of 80% of the employees of the prosecutor’s office were stolen.
The recent cyber attack on the United States came less than a month ago when the US company Microsoft announced that more than 150 government offices, think tanks and other organizations in the United States had been targeted by cyber attacks. It was also reported at the time that a hacking group called Nobelium had attacked 3,000 email accounts at various organizations, most of them in the United States.
