US pressure on Sudan to formalize compromise agreement with Israel.
Hebrew sources have revealed that the administration of US President Joe Biden is pressuring Sudan to sign a “formal agreement” to establish diplomatic relations with Israel.
One year after Sudan announced the normalization of relations with Israel, Washington is pressuring Khartoum to formalize diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.
The network said disagreements within the military and civilian factions of the Sudanese Governing Council over the normalization of relations had delayed the formal signing of an agreement between Khartoum and Tel Aviv.
Khartoum officials have not yet commented on the news.
Washington’s pressure on Khartoum comes after no progress was made in normalizing Sudan’s relations with Israel.
Last week, a Sudanese security and military delegation visited the occupied territories to discuss formalizing relations with Tel Aviv officials.
In October 2020, then-US President Donald Trump announced that Sudan and Israel had agreed to normalize relations.
Of the 22 Arab states, only four Arab states, the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, signed agreements last year to normalize relations with Israel and join Egypt and Jordan.
