Jill Biden, the wife of US President Joe Biden, on Monday announced Biden’s intention to run for the US presidential election in 2024, even though an official announcement of his intention has not yet been published.
Jill Biden, in response to CNN’s question about her husband’s plans for a recent trip to Namibia and Kenya, said she expected him to announce his campaign and asked whether the 80-year-old Democrat May withdraw from candidacy in 2024, denied.
In response to the question of whether the President of the United States will run for re-election, he made even stronger statements to the Associated Press: “How many times do I have to say it before you believe it?”
Whether Biden should run in 2024 remains a source of debate among Democrats. Another election will show whether voters are ready to spend four more years in office with Biden, who is already America’s oldest president.
Biden has repeatedly said he plans to run for re-election, deflecting questions about his age, but has yet to make an official announcement.
“There are a lot of things that we need to get done in the short term before we start the campaign,” he told ABC at the White House earlier.
