US lawmakers call for boycott of Zionist spyware company.
A group of US lawmakers has called for a boycott of the Israeli spy agency UNHCR and three other foreign companies.
A group of US lawmakers has called on the Treasury Department and the State Department to boycott the Israeli spy firm NSO Group and three other foreign watchdogs that they say have aided dictatorships in human rights abuses.
The letter, sent late Tuesday and claimed by Reuters, called for sanctions against the top executives of the Zionist company, the UAE cyber security company DarkMatter, and the European online surveillance companies Nexa Technologies and Trovicor.
According to Reuters, US lawmakers called for sanctions against Magnitsky. The letter was signed by Ron Weiden, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and 16 other Democratic lawmakers. Among other reports, they cited a recent Reuters article this month showing that Israeli spy software had been used against US State Department staff in Uganda.
The lawmakers said the spyware industry relied on US investment and banks, adding that the US government should impose financial sanctions to significantly punish them and send a clear signal to the surveillance technology industry.
The letter said the companies facilitated the disappearance, torture and killing of human rights activists and journalists.
