US expresses its concern about developments in China’s nuclear industry.
The head of the strategic command in the US Department of Defense, stating that China continues to expand its nuclear military force, claimed that Beijing has become a double threat to Washington’s strategic deterrence by siding with Russia.
As the holder of the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons and the only one using an atomic bomb against another country, the United States expressed concern over the developments in China’s military nuclear industry.
“Anthony Cotton,” the head of the strategic command in the US Department of Defense, said on Wednesday evening that Washington is concerned about all the developments in the field of China’s nuclear weapons.
According to “Sputnik” news agency, Cotton claimed that China has the opportunity to rely on the years of experience of the United States and Russia to create nuclear weapons systems.
Speaking at a news conference, he stated that China is in a position to build most of the systems being developed or upgraded by the world’s two largest nuclear powers.
Asked which Chinese nuclear system the US Defense Department is most concerned about, the senior Pentagon official said: “All of them.”
“We’ve been doing this for 70 years, and they think they can start from scratch and make the best of it,” Cotton explained, according to the report. They can, for example, build most of the systems that are in production.”
According to Sputnik, he stated that China has continued to expand its nuclear military force and will not slow down, claiming that Beijing has become a double threat to America’s strategic deterrence against a nuclear conflict by standing next to Russia.
The United States is concerned about the developments in China’s military nuclear industry, while it is known as the owner of the world’s largest nuclear arsenal with 3,708 nuclear weapons and has conducted 1,054 nuclear tests and explosions.
Earlier, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that Beijing adheres to the principle of non-use of nuclear weapons as the first party.
