America’s offer to Iraq; Dissolution of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi in exchange for providing weapons.
The Americans, who were opposed to the Popular Mobilization Organization since the beginning of its formation, because of its role in the fight against the ISIS terrorist group, demanded the dissolution of this popular organization in recent negotiations with the Iraqi side.
Ayed Al-Hilali, one of the leaders of the Iraqi Fatah parliamentary coalition, revealed details of the Iraqi delegation’s negotiations with the United States and Washington’s retaliation against Baghdad on the issue of arming.
A high-ranking delegation of Iraqi security officials headed by the country’s Defense Minister Thabet Mohammad al-Abasi traveled to Washington in the middle of last week. After this trip, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense did not mention any achievements to improve the country’s air force, and apparently this round of negotiations ended without any results.
Al-Hilali told Al-Malouma news base: Washington has opposed Iraq’s purchase of French Rafale fighter jets in these negotiations. Washington does not adhere to the clauses of the military agreement with Iraq and has implemented some clauses related to arming the Iraqi Air Force eight years after the agreement.
He stated that the Americans have demanded the dissolution of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi regarding the provision of military and air weapons, and emphasized that the United States does not implement the agreement to import fighters to Iraq, and only 16 fighters have been delivered to Iraq out of 32 fighters.
This Iraqi politician pointed out that equipping the US with weapons will be detrimental to the Iraqi government in the future, and pointed out that the US turned a blind eye to the war between the Iraqi forces and ISIS terrorists. Iraq will not be able to progress without becoming a great military power.
An informed source told Ahed TV this morning: American officials protested against the budget allocated to the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Organization in a meeting with their Iraqi counterparts and demanded a reduction, but the Iraqi delegation rejected this request and emphasized that this is an internal matter.
The mentioned source, whose name was not mentioned, added: “The [Iraqi] delegation stipulated that the American drones [in Iraq] be unarmed and not fly without Iraq’s consent.”
In the end, Ahed informed the source that Washington has agreed to the Iraqi delegation’s request for information on the number of American troops stationed in Iraq and their location, and the two sides have also agreed that the security case of Iraq should be separate from the case of Syria.
Earlier, Yahya Rasool, the spokesman of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, announced that the Iraqi delegation will participate in several meetings during its trip to America, in which some of the issues, especially the presence of international coalition forces, bilateral security cooperation between Iraq and the United States, exchange of experiences And the information, especially in the field of intelligence and pursuit of ISIS elements, will be discussed and investigated.
