In a letter to President Joe Biden, more than 70 members of Congress called on Saudi Arabia to immediately lift the siege of Yemen.
According to the Common Dreams website, these MPs are Democrats and members of the US House of Representatives, including Ro Khana, Debbie Dingell, and Mark Pocan.
They wrote in their letter to a network report, mentioning the impact of the siege on Yemeni citizens, especially children.
The letter said that the siege of Saudi Arabia was the main cause of the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, leading to fuel shortages, inflation, and reduced access to food, water, electricity, and transportation.
“Every day we wait for these issues to be resolved through negotiation, more and more children are dying,” the US envoy wrote in his letter.
“We urge you (the US government) to use all available leverage to put pressure on the Saudi regime and to lift the siege of Yemen immediately and without any conditions,” they said.
Biden promised in February to end US support for Saudi Arabia’s war against Yemen.
