US claims of assassination of al-Qaeda leader in Syria.
The Centcom terrorist organization claims to have assassinated a senior al-Qaeda affiliate in a night raid on Syria.
The U.S. military said Tuesday morning that it had carried out an attack in the Syrian province of Idlib, targeting a senior member of a militant group affiliated with the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.
According to Reuters, Washington claimed that the attacks had killed Abu Hamza al-Yemeni, one of the leaders of the terrorist group Harasuddin, while he was riding alone on a motorcycle.
The organization added that the initial investigation did not show any civilian casualties.
A statement from the Centcom terrorist organization said, “We carried out an attack in Idlib, Syria, targeting a prominent member of the Haras al-Din organization who had pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda. Abu Hamza al-Yemeni was only on a motorbike when he was targeted. “Killing this person undermines al-Qaeda’s ability to carry out attacks on innocent people around the world.”
According to Reuters, before the US statement, local sources said that a man was killed by two rockets shortly before midnight after his motorcycle was targeted and his body was taken to the forensic medicine department of Idlib.
In recent days, the US military has intensified its illegal and aggressive activities on Syrian soil under the pretext of fighting terrorist groups. Last week, the occupying US forces carried out two helicopters in some parts of Syria for 12 hours and arrested several people.
International anti-ISIL coalition forces also claimed in February that they had killed ISIL leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi during an operation in Haliburn on the Syrian-Turkish border.
Earlier in the day, a car bomb exploded in the southern Syrian city of Deraa, injuring two people.
