US anger over Iranian missiles at Doha exhibition.
A State Department spokesman issued a statement regarding the presence of Iranian military officials and defense equipment at the Doha Defense Exhibition.
The United States has reacted to the presence of Iranian military officials and missiles at the Doha Defense Exhibition, expressing “regret and concern.”
“We deeply regret the presence of Iranian military officials and reports of Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers attending the Doha Defense Exhibition in Qatar,” State Department spokeswoman Ned Price said in a statement Thursday evening.
“Given that Iran is the biggest threat to maritime stability in the Gulf region, we strongly reject their presence at this exhibition and the Maritime Defense Exhibition,” the statement continued.
“Iran’s arms exchanges can be sanctioned under various US laws, including sanctions related to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction,” the State Department spokesman concluded.
The British news agency Reuters reported on Wednesday that Iran had participated in the “Doha Defense Industries Exhibition” and wrote that Iran had demonstrated its missile power in this exhibition. The news agency considered Iran’s presence in this defense exhibition, at the same time as the efforts in the Vienna talks for the full implementation of Vienna agreement, to be interesting.
According to Reuters, a very large poster of a speedboat with commandos was installed in the Iran booth. At a booth near Iran, General Atomics unveiled its MQ-9 UAV, designed to conduct surface-to-surface combat, including naval surveillance.
