The US government on Saturday unveiled its $ 1.9 trillion budget to counter the rise of Iran, China, and Russia in the Middle East, Europe, and Eurasia.
The US budget, which was presented to the US Congress, has been allocated $ 1.9 trillion to counter the “influence” of Iran, China, and Russia throughout Europe and Eurasia, with a special focus on the Middle East.
The US budget document proposes that approximately $ 665.8 million be allocated specifically to “strengthen the resistance of Europe and Eurasia to foreign influence and to advance Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as to address the growing challenges posed by Russia and China.”
The document adds that the budget will support centralized programs to defend democracy, the rule of law, promote human rights and gender equality, fight corruption, and counter authoritarianism.
In addition, the United States has earmarked $ 800 million for international television networks to target audiences in Iran, China, and Russia, as well as in Africa and the Middle East.
Defensively, Biden’s proposed budget focuses on modernizing nuclear arsenals as well as developing new combat capabilities. This budget, as in the past, seeks to maintain US military superiority.
Approximately $ 27.7 billion will be spent on nuclear upgrades, including the construction of new bombers and long-range submarines. More than $ 20 billion is earmarked for improving and maintaining missile defenses such as offshore systems.
President Joe Biden’s administration’s budget request will be considered in Congress, and it will ultimately decide how to spend these resources.
The initial budget proposal, which was presented to Congress by Joe Biden’s administration, also cited the “Chinese threat” as the Pentagon’s first challenge. Biden has called for an increase in the Pentagon’s budget to $ 715 billion, saying part of the budget will be used to contain China and Russia.
The draft outlines the goals of the US Department of Defense, containment of China and Russia, modernization of the nuclear program, improvement of the climate and confrontation with emerging biological threats.
The US government has been particularly focused on dealing with China in recent years. Relations between Washington and Beijing have been strained over the years over issues such as the trade war, the spread of the Corona virus and media activity in the two countries.
