United Nations: Expect a million Sudanese refugees.
Shafaq News reported that the United Nations predicted on Wednesday that the number of Sudanese displaced from their homes and places of residence to escape the country’s civil war will exceed one million.
According to this international organization, the situation is rapidly turning into a regional crisis, and in this context, it predicts the amount of humanitarian aid needed to be more than 3 billion dollars.
In its report, the United Nations emphasized that by reassessing its program for Sudan, it is clear that it needs 2.6 billion dollars, while its forecast last December was only 1.75 billion dollars.
The United Nations also pointed out the need to provide an additional 470.4 million dollars to interact with the refugees who have fled outside of Sudan, predicting that the number of refugees fleeing from Sudan will reach one million refugees this year.
In the continuation of the report, it is emphasized that about 25 million people, which is more than half of the population of Sudan, also need urgent humanitarian aid.
It should be noted that the conflict between the Sudanese army under the command of Abdul Fattah al-Barhan and the rapid reaction forces under the command of Muhammad Hamdan Daghlo (Hamidati) started last April and the recent meetings in Jeddah have not been successful in ending it.
