Unidentified assailants attacked an Islamic center in Tucson, Arizona, earlier this week.
The Council of Muslims of America in a statement condemned the move, stressing the need to support individuals in performing their religious duties and maintaining the security of mosques.
According to the released video, three people (two women and a man) threw stones at the doors and windows of the Tucson Islamic Center and attacked one person when he tried to stop them.
Soheil Mohammad, a member of the management council of the Tucson Islamic Center, said the incident was unjustifiable and unprecedented.
He added that following the incident, the center’s guard was injured in the eye area and one of the windows of the center was destroyed due to throwing stones.
Ezzat Abu Saif called on US Muslim Council officials to enforce the law to increase security in areas where there are mosques and places of worship.
He said the issue should be taken seriously, given the recurrence of attacks on minorities across the United States.
In recent months, several cities and states in the United States have faced numerous attacks on Islamic religious centers.
In mid-December, the US Congress passed a law establishing a special office at the State Department to combat Islamophobia around the world.
Although American Muslims have hailed the passage as a historic victory for Muslims, Washington has not yet been able to address the challenge of Islamophobia and attacks on Muslims in the country.
