The UN Security Council will discuss this report next month, which will be presented by the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba.
Referring to the dual and selective policy of the Secretary General of the United Nations in dealing with countries, Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed said that despite the fact that the United States and the United Kingdom have violated children’s rights in their wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, or the aggressor coalition has done so in the Yemen war. , but it is Russia that Guterres put on the list of shame and this is the first time that the name of a permanent member of the Security Council is on this list.
According to this Arabic-language media, for years, many international human rights organizations have strongly criticized Guterres and his office in the handling of this case, including Human Rights Watch, which has previously described how to deal with this list and the failure to include a country. With influence and his allies in this list, he described it as “undermining the credibility of the report”.
These organizations believe that Guterres is doing this out of fear of angering countries that contribute to the UN or have influence.
