The UN Secretary-General called on Lebanese leaders to form a government as soon as possible.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman Stephen Dujarric said he had called on all Lebanese political leaders to form a national unity government immediately.
He said the UN Secretary-General had expressed concern about the economic and social crisis in Lebanon.
The remarks by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon came as Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the Ba’athist Palace today.

After the meeting, Mikati said in response to a reporter’s question: “God willing, it is good.”
The incumbent Lebanese Prime Minister did not mention the results of his meeting with the President.
The meeting between Mikati and Aoun was scheduled to take place yesterday, but was postponed to today at Mikati’s request.
The list proposed by Mikati’s cabinet was also scheduled to be submitted to the president yesterday, which was postponed.
Mikati was introduced to the mission by Michel Aoun after the resignation of Saad al-Hariri, head of the Lebanese Future Movement, from forming the cabinet.
