The adviser to the Ukrainian president claimed that no agreement with Russia could be trusted and that the only way to stop Moscow’s invasion was by force.
Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president and chief negotiator in peace talks with Russia, reiterated Kiev’s stubborn stance in rejecting Moscow’s humanitarian proposals.
Podoliak claimed in his telegram on Saturday evening that no agreement with Russia could be trusted and that the only way to stop Moscow’s invasion was by force.
“Any agreement with Russia is not even worth the black money,” he was quoted as saying by Reuters. “Is it possible to negotiate with a country that always lies and propagandizes pessimistically?”
“Russia has proven to be a savage country that threatens global security,” the senior Ukrainian official added. “A savage can only be stopped by force.”
Podoliak had previously rejected the West’s offer of a ceasefire with Russia and the remaining Russian forces in the occupied territories, saying the ceasefire was in the Kremlin’s interest but that Moscow should be defeated. (More details)
On Saturday evening, Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov also referred to the start of the process of receiving anti-ship missiles and self-propelled artillery from the country’s Western allies, saying that they would use this equipment to counter Russian forces.
