Ukrainian Air Force needs 128 fighters for air superiority over Russia.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force said that the country needs 128 fighters to replace old fighters and gain air superiority over Russia.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Monday that it needs 128 fighters to replace aging fighters and gain air superiority over Russia.
“We need 128 fighters to replace the fleet of old planes,” according to the “Al-Arabiya” news website, citing the “Ukrainian State News Agency”, Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
He said that if 42 fighters are delivered to Ukraine by the Netherlands and Denmark, this is equivalent to four aviation squadrons.
He added that more than 100 fighters are needed for different airports to respond to different challenges and attack different Russian targets.
On Sunday, the Netherlands and Denmark pledged to send 42 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The country has long been looking for fighter jets to provide air defense against Russian airstrikes.
Not long ago, Zelensky emphasized that the defense of Ukraine is still not able to protect the entire territory of this country against Russian attacks. He said: “Unfortunately, we still do not have high-quality air defense systems to protect our entire territory.”
In another development, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said on Monday that the decision of the Netherlands and Denmark to send fighter jets to Ukraine will only escalate the war and prolong the process of Russia’s special military operations.
“Scott Ritter”, a former American intelligence officer, also said that the president of Ukraine does not know that the import of F-16 fighters cannot change the situation of the Ukrainian armed forces, which are suffering from heavy losses on the front. He wrote about the intention of the Netherlands to transfer F-16 to Ukraine: “All of them will be shot down within a month… these aids will only create the illusion of security for Kiev.”
Earlier, the American website “Business Insider” quoted an aviation expert who wrote that the F-16 fighter is so fragile that it needs special air bases and these bases can be identified and targeted by Russia.
