According to Al-Khalij, sources of European diplomats have announced that “Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan”, the president of the UAE, plans to hold a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the upcoming UN climate meeting on November 30. to be held in Dubai until December 12, 2023.
According to this report, Ben Zaid shared his plan with Pope Francis and he warmly welcomed this plan. The President of the UAE also spoke with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and he welcomed this plan and emphasized that he is ready to help achieve this goal.
Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department, has also claimed that the Ukrainian side is ready to negotiate with Russia. The holding of any meeting between Putin and Zelensky depends on the President of Ukraine and his decision.
The UAE is looking for mediation between Russia and Ukraine, while Saudi Arabia has tried its luck by holding a meeting about the Ukraine crisis with the presence of representatives of countries and institutions of the world without the participation of Russia.
The two-day Jeddah meeting on the Ukraine crisis ended a few days ago by issuing a vague and short statement. According to this statement, the participants of the meeting agreed on the continuation of consultations to create a common ground in order to achieve peace.
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia hosted a meeting on the Ukraine crisis on August 5 and 6 without the presence of the Russian side and with the participation of representatives of more than 40 countries and international organizations, including the United Nations.
