U.S. President Joe Biden’s approval rating is near the lowest level of his presidency just two weeks before midterm elections that will shape the rest of his term, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Tuesday.
In this two-day national poll, 39% of Americans approved of Biden’s performance, which was one percentage point less than the previous week. Previously, the level of satisfaction with Biden reached 36% in May and June.
Biden’s unpopularity reinforces the view that Republicans will take control of the US House of Representatives and possibly the Senate on November 8.
According to Reuters, control of even one of these two US legislative bodies gives Republicans the power to stop Biden’s legislative agenda.
In this week’s Reuters/Ipsos poll, one-third of respondents named the economy America’s biggest problem, outnumbering the one-in-ten who chose crime.
The survey was conducted online in English across the United States and collected the opinions of 1,005 adults, including 447 Democrats and 369 Republicans.
