Twelve people have been killed in an ISIL attack in northern Iraq.
Iraqi media reported that 12 people, including a child, were killed when ISIS elements attacked a Kurdish village in northern Iraq.
Iraqi sources reported this morning (Friday) that 12 people had been killed in an attack by ISIS elements in the Qarjugh area of Makhmur district in Iraq’s northern Ninawa province.
The Zagros news website quoted a Peshmerga officer as saying that ISIL elements tried to attack the village of Lahiban in northern Iraq at 7pm local time last night; But their movements were detected by thermal cameras, and the locals managed to confront them and force them to retreat.
The news site added that at 21:45 on Thursday evening, ISIS terrorists attacked again, this time targeting the Kurdish village of Khezrjijeh, where most of the residents are farmers and ranchers.
According to the report, ISIS terrorists are shooting at civilians in the village, including women and children, and at the same time, Peshmerga forces are taking action against them.
Zagros added that the clash resulted in the death of one Peshmerga soldier and three other civilians, including a child.
Col. Nejat Kholeh al-Qayadi, one of the commanders of the Peshmerga forces in Erbil, added that after the ISIL attack on the village of Khezrjijeh, seven Peshmerga forces were trying to prevent the escape of ISIL elements who were caught and killed by terrorists.
