Foreign Ministry spokesmen in 12 European countries issued a joint statement calling on the Zionist regime to abandon plans to build thousands of new housing units in the West Bank.
The statement from German Foreign Ministry said, “We urge Israel to rescind its decision to move forward with the construction of some 3,000 housing units in the West Bank.” We strongly oppose the policy of expanding settlements throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which violates international law and undermines efforts to achieve a two-state solution.
“We call on both sides to extend the steps that have been taken in recent months to improve cooperation and reduce tensions,” the joint statement said. We call for the implementation of UN Resolution 2334 with all its provisions, with the aim of rebuilding trust and creating the necessary conditions for the promotion of peace.
The signatories of this joint statement are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain and Sweden.
Zionist regime sources recently announced the regime’s decision to build new settlements in the West Bank. According to the decision, 1,355 new housing units will be built in the West Bank.
