Turkish politician sharply criticizes Erdogan for turning his back on Russia.
Criticizing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for agreeing to Sweden and Finland joining NATO, the leader of the Turkish Patriotic Party said Erdogan had betrayed NATO opponents, including Russia.
On Wednesday, the head of one of the opposition parties of the Turkish government strongly criticized the President of the country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who agreed to join Sweden and Finland in NATO, saying that Erdogan betrayed the opponents of NATO by this action.
According to “Tass” news agency, Dogu Princek, the head of “Hizpa Vatan” of Turkey, said that Erdogan’s government hurt the trust of a number of countries, including Russia, by signing a memorandum of understanding with Sweden and Finland and paving the way for them to join NATO.
This Turkish politician stated that by signing the memorandum with Sweden and Finland, Erdogan betrayed the trust of Russia, Iran, Iraq, Syria and China, which act as a united front against the threat of NATO. Turkey should act on the basis of common interests with the countries against which NATO actions are directed.
According to Princek, by saying “yes” to NATO expansion, he jeopardized the relationship that had been built over years with countries opposed to the NATO alliance.
