Turkey: Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Armenia is destructive.
The vice president of Turkey called the statements of the speaker of the US House of Representatives about the conflict between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan unacceptable.
Turkish Vice President Fuad Oktay said on Monday that US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s statements about the conflict between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan are “destructive diplomatic efforts” and unacceptable.
Nancy Pelosi visited Armenia on Sunday and expressed US support for the country in conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
According to the Reuters news agency, Oktay asked Washington in a tweet to determine whether Pelosi’s statements reflect the official position of the United States.
The speaker of the American House of Representatives, who visited Armenia, announced his support for Armenia and confrontation with Turkey in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States said that the United States is a friend of Armenia in terms of supporting democracy in Armenia, passing the Armenian Genocide resolution, confronting Turkey in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Pashinyan also stated: “Armenia appreciates the clear position of the United States against the aggression of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
Following Pelosi’s visit to Yerevan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan condemned her visit to Armenia and declared that the unsubstantiated and unfair statements of this senior American official are a serious blow to peace efforts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced in a statement: “Pelosi’s unfair and unsubstantiated accusations against the Republic of Azerbaijan are unacceptable.” Pelosi is known as a pro-Armenian politician.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated that Pelosi’s words are propaganda for Armenia and declared: “This is a serious blow to the efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that the country’s army has killed 79 people and wounded 282 during the clashes between 12 and 14 September with Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also said in the cabinet meeting last Friday that at least 135 Armenian soldiers have been killed in border clashes with the Republic of Azerbaijan in the last week.
