Turkey is investigating those who doubted Erdogan’s health.
Turkish sources reported this evening (Wednesday) that Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into individuals who have published articles on the health of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“The messages that have been circulated in cyberspace about the health of President Erdogan are baseless,” the Turkish General Security Directorate said in response to recent speculation about Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s health.
The Turkish news website Cyanan Turk also reported that legal action had been taken against 30 people who had published “misleading” information about the president’s health.
In the past few months, speculation about the health of the Turkish president has increased, especially after he had difficulty speaking and moving in public.
Some social media users recently mentioned in messages that Erdogan wore € 9,000 specially designed shoes that help maintain balance and are commonly used by the elderly.
In October, Middle East and Africa expert Steven Cook wrote in Foreign Policy that evidence was growing that raised some doubts about Erdogan’s health.
He suggested that Hakan Fidan, the deputy head of the National Intelligence Agency, Halusi Akar, the defense minister, and Suleyman Soylu, the Turkish interior minister, were among the possible candidates for the post, citing the possibility that another powerful figure could rule Turkey.
